During the fall of 1946, there was a strong need to continue the collegiate experience of "Alphadom" and to provide community service to the Palm Beaches by way of a graduate "alumni" chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  The brothers forming this chapter served as Charter Brothers to what became during the chartering on January 1, 1947, Delta Delta Lambda Chapter.  These brothers became the "trailblazers, role models, and pioneers of fraternal life in Palm Beach County".  Those charter brothers were:

 C.C. Benton, M.D. - (Fort Pierce)

S.A. Cousin, A.M.E. Minister (Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church)

 Clifton G. Dyson, Businessman

Erman W. Edgecombe, M.D.  - Surgeon, Corresponding Secretary of The Sphinx magazine

 Murray Nealy - Educator

 Waldense Nixon, M.D.

 Robert L. Smith, D.D.S.

 William B. Stewart - Educator

James Young, D.D.S. - (Fort Pierce)

Through the late 1940's, 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's and up to today, our brotherhood has provided the leadership necessary to enable Palm Beach County to develop into the dynamic county that it is today.  With Alpha Phi Alpha in the driver's seat, Palm Beach County has grown so over the years that there are two additional chapters in the area - Xi Rho Lambda Chapter, Belle Glade, and Omicron Upsilon Lambda Chapter, Delray Beach.  There are over two-hundred-fifty Alpha Men in Palm Beach County currently working in a wide range of professions.

All of the basic institutions: government, medicine, law, education, banking, family, religion, economics, and recreation have Alpha Men from our chapter involved in significant leadership roles.  We are destined to "make a difference" in the Palm Beach County community as Alpha Men.  With our county being as diverse as it is, we have labored untiringly and unceasingly to the cause of "Manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind."
